2010 Season

From the President

Thank you for visiting our website and inquiring about AISA Baseball. What
AISA offers is baseball for boys and girls, living in Irondequoit, for ages
5 -12 and girls softball for ages 9-13.

AISA baseball was formed 20+ years ago to give East Irondequoit kids living in the section known as “the boot” a chance to play youth baseball in Irondequoit. Little league did not and/or would not recognize this area and therefore not grant a little league charter thus we are not little league
affiliated.

What does this mean? Well it means that we are not able to send a team to
Williamsport for the “Little League World Series.” If that is important to
you and what you want, then I’m sorry we can’t offer that to you. However,
what we can offer your child and family is an opportunity to play baseball in an organization that is run by volunteers who want a fun, friendly family atmosphere for the kids of Irondequoit.

AISA is run by a board of 12 dedicated and passionate people who donate a good deal of time and effort to make AISA as fun and positive experience as possible for your child(ren). Our coaches don’t preach a “win at all costs” attitude or stress the fact that winning is above all else. They preach and stress the fundamentals and teaching of basic baseball skills for the 5-8 year old and more advance baseball skills for children 9-12 years. We accomplish this by teaching the fundamentals, good sportsmanship (both to opponents and to your own teammates), teamwork and above all ~ FUN!

The boys and girls of AISA get to know each other as teammates and friends.
Our coaches don’t just play the “best” player(s) at the same position every
inning. Our rules state that the player gets a chance to play any position they want (unless there’s a safety concern by coach and/or parent), moving our players around every inning or so. This along with all the other things mentioned is what makes AISA a fun and friendly place to learn baseball. The fact that we believe in fun and learning first does not make us less
competitive. Our team “cross-over” with teams from IAA and Charlotte and in most cases are equally matched winning about 50% of the time. We also have 11-12 year old Select Teams that play in four tournaments (including the one we host) in late July that compete very well with teams from many other towns.

So, in closing, if you are not sure where your son or daughter fits in as a
baseball player or if you don’t want an ultra competitive atmosphere for them to play ball, but still learn the game ~ then give AISA try. After all it is like our motto says, “Just for the Fun of It.”
